Arriving in Toronto
May 29, 2008 - 19.13I took an early morning flight to Toronto, arriving at Pearson Airport around 2:30 in the afternoon. I took the GO bus to Richmond Hill Centre where Zuka picked me up. We grabbed something to eat before heading to her house, where I’ll be staying for a few nights. It is there where I realize that my suitcase had been randomly picked for inspection.
I had the zippers locked to keep them together. The lock is missing and one of the zipper is broken. In the suitcase, most things were more or less the same except this tin box of snacks that I bought for my friend was opened. The shrink wrap was torn and I assume they opened the lid to check out what’s inside.
That evening, we went out for Korean food. I had a pork bone soup but it seems like the pork bone was just cook. The meat was still stuck to the bones. It took Zuka and I great efforts to pull the meat off the bones. It was still a decent meal nonetheless but I forgot to take pictures of it.
The next afternoon we had Shanghainese food for lunch. It was quite delicious.
Soy milk drink
Beef pancake.
There are actually a lot of green onions in it, which I hate, but the flavour of the beef kind of overwhelms it.
Xiao long bao. (Steamed pork dumplings with soup)
Chicken noodles in soup.
We didn’t finish the noodles. It was a bit too much food for the two of us. Plus, we had reservations for Japanese all you can eat dinner that night and didn’t want to stuff ourselves too much. After lunch, we walked around some malls and shops a bit until around 3pm when we met up with Leomir and Lori to watch Iron Man. The movie itself was awesome but the experience was kind of bad. Whoever was playing the movie screwed up and the movie was stopped 4 times throughout the screening. First time it stopped for around 10 minutes and when the movie came back on, parts were skipped. The next two times it stopped, the movie came back faster. Lastly, we sat through the credits to see the short clip at the end which supposedly had Samuel Lee Jackson in it. Just a second into that final clip, it was cut off. They didn’t put it back on. Sucks! We got a complimentary ticket for a free movie as we were leaving. I guess that somewhat makes up for it, although I might have prefer to have a smooth movie instead. It was a great movie too!
Next stop for Japanese all you can eat dinner, where I chilled with a bunch of my friends from university – those at the movie plus Dunk and Glado. Food was good. As with any all you can eat dinner, I was stuffed by the end of it. Afterwards, we went back to Zuka’s house to play the Wii. We tried Guitar Heroes III, Mario Kart, and Dancing with the Stars. No doubt, the last game was the best. haha.
