Square Enix Members

Last week I signed up for the new Square Enix Members site for North America, which launched earlier this week. I decided to browsed around it today. There wasn’t much there, as expected, except for some features on Crisis Core, Ring of Fates and and upcoming game The World Ends with You. In the Fan Zone, there’s a Special Giveaway of Crisis Core Original Soundtrack autographed by the composer. For me, that wasn’t particularly exciting but I can think of someone that might want this CD. So I decided to enter. Normal people will probably just click on ‘Enter Now’, leaving a witty comment about Crisis Core, and submit away. Well, I liked to read the rules, which turns out to invalidate my eligibility.

1. Eligibility. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. Offer void where prohibited BY LAW. ODDS OF WINNING DEPEND ON THE NUMBER OF VALID ENTRIES RECEIVED. SWEEPSTAKES OPEN ONLY TO REGISTERED MEMBERS OF SQUARE ENIX MEMBERS SITE (NORTH AMERICA), WHO ARE LEGAL U.S. RESIDENTS, WHO ARE 13 YEARS OLD OR OLDER, AND WHO ARE LOCATED IN THE CONTINENTAL U.S. AT THE TIME OF ENTRY.

Why is this Square Enix NORTH AMERICA when only US residents can enter the giveaway? Now I doubt that I would have won anything even if I was able to enter but the fact that I was denied the chance to not win somehow annoys me.
